About Me

Cynthia Z. Stevens Copeland, MA, CCC/SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist, Parent Coach

With over three decades of dedicated service as a speech-language pathologist, I've had the privilege of supporting children with autism, ADHD, learning differences, and sensory processing challenges. As a mother of five and owner of a thriving private speech therapy practice in the DC metropolitan area, I intimately understand both the professional and personal sides of parenting unique learners.

My journey has led me to become a certified parent coach and early interventionist, allowing me to blend my clinical expertise with compassionate family support. Throughout my 20+ years of private practice, I've witnessed firsthand how empowered parents create transformative changes in their children's lives.

I believe in a global perspective on parenting, regularly connecting with families worldwide to learn from their diverse experiences and challenges. These conversations continually enrich my approach to parent coaching and remind me that while every family's journey is unique, no parent should have to walk it alone.

My comprehensive background allows me to offer parents practical strategies rooted in both professional expertise and real-world experience. Whether you're navigating communication challenges, seeking to understand your child's unique needs, or looking to build a more connected family dynamic, I'm here to partner with you on your parenting journey.

What is Parent Coaching?

Parent Coaching is a collaborative process that empowers transformative change in parents, children, and families by recognizing that the parent is the expert of the family. It taps into the strengths that parents already have while experimenting with new strategies, exploring the family’s limitless potential, switching perspectives on various behaviors, and so much more.

Right Track Parenting combines the best from the coaching world to support parents in overcoming  challenges and achieving positive change. This includes research-based coaching models, methods and philosophies from the Parent Coaching Institute (PCI), Rush and Shelden’s The Early Childhood Coaching Handbook, Dana Childress’s Pause & Reflect and so many others. Right Track Parenting sees parents, children and families as unique systems so that we can address challenges using principles and beliefs that focus on the whole system and not just part of an individual or family.

The Coaching Process

Every family is different and this is a good thing since the world would be very boring if every family was the same! At Right Track Parenting, I will tailor the process to your family's specific needs. That being said, our journey follows a general flow to ensure progress. Below are examples of the guiding steps we will take as we work together as partners:
